FAQ
Nine things people ask
Is it really free?
Yes. Every workshop, session, and resource on this site is free. We're funded by community grants and individual donors, and no one here is paid on commission. [DUMMY]
Are you financial advisors?
No, and the distinction matters. We're a financial education organization. We teach principles and show you how to evaluate your own options. We don't recommend specific investments, insurance products, or financial providers, and we're not registered to do so. If you need personalized investment advice, we'll help you understand what to look for in a registered advisor.
What happens in the first session?
Sixty minutes, either at our office or over video. We look at what's actually coming in and going out, name the one or two things causing the most pressure, and write a plan you leave with. [DUMMY]
Do I need to bring documents?
Recent pay stubs and a rough idea of your debt balances help, but bring what you have. We've never turned anyone away for showing up unprepared. [DUMMY]
Is my financial information kept private?
Yes. What you share in a session stays between you and the person you met with. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle information collected through this site.
Do you work with families outside the area?
Workshops are in person. One-on-one sessions can be virtual, so distance isn't a barrier there. [DUMMY]
Can you help with money I send to family overseas?
Yes. It's one of our four programs, and it's the one most other financial education leaves out entirely.
Do you help with taxes, immigration paperwork, or legal issues?
No. We'll point you toward the right kind of professional, but those sit outside what we do.
How do I stop getting emails?
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately.
